O the weekend

Well this is a weekend I have been looking forward to for some time. The last month has been one of "busy". With us having staff away and then all the school consultations that have been going on, it created a busy month. But with the help of family and collegues I was able to attend all the meetings and meet all the commitments. This is the first year that we have a Provincial holiday in February, the government created the day as a stat holiday naming it "Family Day". This year it comes just at the right time.
Our school closure (Consideration) meetings have proven to be exactly what they are intended to be.. consultation ... we have heard many passionite pleas and reasons looking at each individual situation. I continue to be glad in the demotractic way in which we choose our elected officials (Hoping that they will make the best and informative decisions for the school division as a whole.) Many a sleepless night, the considerations have kept me awake as one considers: 1st: the students and them recieveing quality education, communities, finances and also the education professionals that create the staff that work with our children on a day to day basis. The process is not complete yet and I am glad that there is 10 committed individuals that will look at all the information gathered and that the majority of these 10 will make the final decision. The school divison webpage has a great page that gives information that may be of interest as student enrollment declines.
