What's happenin

Seems like each one in our family has relied on each others blogs to let people keep up on what we are doing. This week has been full of activities. Looks like Mom beat us to the blogline with her thoughts. (As I mentioned that was pretty heavy thoughts but that is what blogs are all about... making one think and reflect). Kathy and I continue to be at home by ourselves and are coping as well as can be, it is very quiet) . The kids often said "You will miss us when we are not here" How true are those word, however it is nice to know they have their own lives and are doing well. Thank goodness our house is not to big and Kathy and I can at least call for one another if needed. Since the first part of January three of our staff (Jones Family) have been away on their yearly vacation time. That leaves us short staffed, but we do have very competent staff that are great to work with and each knows how to do their jobs making it stress free. As most know I have been on the school division school board for over 12 years. The last year was an election and still 2 1/2 years to go in this term. Last January (2006) the Provincial government amalgimated school divisions. This school division is very large. Those that are familair with this area of Saskatchewan our division is from Craik to the north to the USA/Canadian border, Chaplin to the west and Rouleau/Avonlea/Bengough to the east that is one big area. We have over a 70million dollar budget. As in most school divisions in Canada unless it is the "growing cities" a decline in enrollment is happening. We just do not have as many children as we use to. This school board looked at crieteria that would look at reviewing schools. Seven in our division are being looked at so that has meant that the next month the board will be going to talk to the local schools. It is stressfull having to consider situations that effect communities and often being elected to an board is hard work and emotionally challenging. Thank goodness it is not just one person making the decisions (that is why they call it a board) ten people in this case look at all the data and resources to make a logical decision.check out the school division website @ http://www.prairiesouth.ca.
